Dry lining is the installation of plasterboard directly to masonry walls (dot and dab) or to a timber or metal stud framework, without the need for a wet base coat. It is faster, cleaner, and less disruptive than traditional multi-coat plastering, making it the preferred method for new builds, extensions, loft conversions, and refurbishments where speed matters.
Roger installs all dry lining systems — dot and dab to solid walls, stud partitions to create or divide rooms, and tape-and-joint finishes where a smooth painted surface is required without a skim coat. Insulated plasterboard (PIR-backed) is also available for wall insulation upgrades.
Once dry lining is in place, Roger can skim the surface to a smooth plaster finish or hand over a tape-and-jointed board ready for direct decoration — whichever suits the project.

Common Questions
What is the difference between dot and dab and a stud partition?
Dot and dab fixes plasterboard directly to an existing solid wall using blobs of adhesive. A stud partition creates a freestanding wall using a metal or timber frame — useful when building new internal walls.
Do dry-lined walls need skimming?
Not always. Boards can be tape-and-jointed and decorated directly. A skim coat gives a finer finish and hides board joins more completely, but adds cost and drying time.
Can dry lining go in bathrooms?
Yes, using moisture-resistant (MR) board in wet areas. Roger will specify the correct board type for each location.
