Plastering — Hertfordshire & North-West London
General plastering, including patch and repair work — fixing cracks, holes, and damp-damaged plaster. Small jobs welcome.
Not every plastering job requires a full room re-skim. General plastering covers everything from a small crack above a doorframe to a section of wall damaged by a burst pipe or botched previous repair — and Roger takes the same care on a small patch as he does on a whole house renovation.
The challenge with patch repair is blending the new plaster seamlessly into the old. Different plaster mixes, different ages, and different textures all make this harder than it looks. Roger's experience across a wide range of substrates means he can identify what the existing plaster is made from and match it closely enough that the repair becomes invisible under paint.
Small jobs are always welcome. There is no minimum job size.
What to Expect
- Damaged area assessed — edges cut back to sound plaster
- Any underlying cause (damp, movement) identified and flagged
- Base coat applied where depth requires it
- Finishing coat applied and feathered into surrounding surface
- Left flat and ready for paint
Common Questions
Can you repair plaster damaged by damp?
Yes — but the damp source must be fixed first, otherwise the new plaster will fail too. Roger will flag if he suspects an active damp problem and advise on getting it resolved before plastering.
Will the patch be visible under paint?
A well-executed patch should be invisible under paint. The key is matching the plaster mix and feathering the edges carefully. Roger takes the time to do this correctly.
Do you take on very small jobs?
Yes. There is no minimum job size. Roger is happy to quote for anything from a single crack to a full wall.
